This is what's happening in Dubrovnik Now - Apartment Rentals & Our Favourite Dubrovnik Day Trips and Beaches
Mediterranean style food - ENJOY! Fish may be served as a whole fish (i.e., heads, tails, gills and all). They have some great meat dishes like lamb and veal. Here are our favourites!
Coffee time (and people watching at it’s BEST!). Gradska Kavana (beside the big bell clock tower) and Festival (close to the fountain towards Pile Gate). Soul Cafe - very cool, quiet dead end street with great dessert and sandwiches.
Restaurant Row - Prijeko Street parallel to Stradun in the Old Town is also known as restaurant row with lots of places to chose from!
Arsenal - a fantastic restaurant in the Old Town under the Bell Clock Tower - facing the Old Port you will enjoy a fabulous view, music, great food and wonderful ambiance.
*Wanda’s – It is on Restaurant Row at the corner of Prijeko and Boskovicev. Our friend Goran owns the restaurant so if you eat there, be sure to ask for Goran and tell him that the Pasic family sent you. He will treat you well.
Spaghetteria Toni - Great Italian place in the Old Town on N. Bozidarevica near Nikole Gucetica.
*Taj Mahal – Delicious Bosnian restaurant in the Old Town if you want to try Bosnian food. Try the cevapcici with pita bread, and end with any dessert and a traditional turkish coffee.
Mea Culpa – One of our favorite pizza places in the Old Town on Za Rokum near Dordiceva but you can order many other things there as well.
Oliva’s – Easy place to sit, have a beer, eat pizza and relax in the shade. It is located on one of the side streets off Stradun not far from Gunduliceva poljana (the plaza where they have the fruit market). The also have a take out window.
Dominos Steak House – Great Steak dinners, if you get tired of the Mediterranean menu’s you can have a very enjoyable meal here.
Pupo - Ulica cvjeta zuzorić , great local restaurant. - nice lunch. Ask for Antony and he will take great care of you!
Horizont - http://restaurant-horizont.com/. Nice view, everything is good. Chocolate Lava Cake is a must (just sayin’)
Other Restaurants we like:
Azur, Castro Pizza, Gatsby, Lady PiPi , Bota or Takanoko (sushi)
Ice Cream (Sladoled) – There are lots of ice cream places and the ice cream is fabulous so make sure you eat lots of it. Our rule is you can have an ice-cream every day! Pistachio, Red Orange and Vanilla chocolate chip are some of our favourites.
NIGHT LIFE
*D’VINO Wine Bar - a Must for great wine, cheese and meat platters and say hi to all the staff from the Pasic’s. The owner has also opened up a new restaurant right beside the wine bar called Fat Cats - the have some great food options not found on other menus.
Gusto Guisto - Antuninska 3 - A great local feel. Meat and cheese platters and wine!
Troubadour – It’s like a beer garden but with a jazz element. You can sit outside and listen to music filled with locals and tourists. Located in the Old Town on Buniceva poljana near Gundulic square - each cafe has different tables/chairs. Check out the menus because some are quite a bit more expensive than others.
Buza – (Little Buza) A very cool place to have at least one drink and check out the view at night but not the type of place where you’re going to be partying and meeting other people. It’s literally through a hole in the Wall of the Old Town by St. Stjepan. You can get there by taking one of the streets behind the big cathedral and walking along the city wall. Note there is no washroom here www.cafebuza.com
There is also a Buza II further up along the wall and the sign says COLD DRINKS - this one is known as the Sunset Bar or Big Buza
East West Beach Club – Located on Banje beach just outside the Ploce Gates of the Old Town and just past and below the Lazareti Complex.
The Gaffe/Karaka Irish Bar – Every city needs a good Irish bar and these are 2 of our favourites. Located in the Old Town on the corner of Miha Pracata and Izmedu Polaca.
Party Goer’s - Sky Bar Night Club- This is big nightclub outside the Old Town right past the Pile Gate (on your left as you exit the Old Town).
Party Goer’s - Culture Club Revelin http://www.clubrevelin.com/ Techno, Dancers, Dj’s, light shows, party party!
Shopping Most of the shopping will be in the Old Town along Stradun and Od Puca. Jewelry, bags, shoes, and leather are all pretty good deals. There are also some cute shops on the lower end of Boskovicev near Stradun. Robna Kuca Minceta or Robna Kuca in Lapad (srd) are 2 malls you can visit.
Sightseeing
Wall Tour - The entrance for the Wall Tour is on Stradun near the Pile Gate. It opens around 8 or 9 am and closes around 7 pm. You should definitely rent the audio that tells you what you are seeing. And you need to give yourself at least 2 hours to complete the tour (so make sure you start at least 2 hours before the wall closes). Also bear in mind that there is no shade on the wall so you should do the tour during the cooler hours of the day.
Memorial Room – You can pay respects by visiting the Memorial Room of Dubrovnik Defenders which is located at the entrance of the Palaca Sponza (Sponza Palace) near the bell tower. It doesn’t take long and it’s a nice tribute to those that died during the war.
Cable Car (Zicara) - gorgeous views and the Panorama Restaurant - a lovely lunch on a clear day! http://www.dubrovnikcablecar.com/
